"Are You 'Dressed' For Eternity?" - (With Videos) - Inspirational Weekend

[Baby Makapu'u Beach, Oahu, Hawaii]

The title above for this article was inspired by Isaiah 61:10 which follows:

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God, for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels."

To be dressed for heaven and eternity, then, our apparel must be "the garments of salvation."

Following is a quote from the "Biblical Illustrator Commentary."

"Garments are used as a covering.  Is a garment for the body more needed than one for the soul?  Which of us could stand in the presence of an angel without sinking to the ground in very shame?  I draw your attention to the glory of God's garments for salvation :  they completely cover all your iniquity and blot out all your sin.

"A garment is used to beautify, to adorn.  The garment of salvation is an adornment for it reveals God in you to your neighbors.  What can be more beautiful than a man or woman or child who tries to bless another - that is the life of the angels: the life of God - ministering unto others.

"Garments are used also as a sign of one's condition or occupation.  Monarchs, priests, judges, and officers of state wear robes to indicate their real or implied superiority.  Shakespeare says, "The apparel oft proclaims the man."  You can generally tell something about a man's character and calling from his clothing.   The world judges Christian people by the garments of their conduct.

"He {God/Jesus} hath clothed me'.  Where is salvation?  In Christ, and Christ is in and for us."

What a wonderful analogy!

Obviously, the garments of salvation are from God through Jesus Christ, the Savior.  But we need to "put on" those "garments" by faith in the good Lord!

We cannot save ourselves!  It is all a gift from the love and grace found in and flowing from our Lord.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.  Not of works, lest any man should boast."  -    Ephesians 2:8-9

This is mindful of "the fruit of the spirit" found at Galatians 5:22-23 - Which fruit a true believer will have and possess because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit from above.  However, Isaiah 61:10 concerns itself with salvation being from the Lord:  The Giver of the garments of salvation; which is the same as saying "He has saved me."

Much more wonderful information on Isaiah 61:10 is found in the above "Biblical Illustrator Commentary".  Check it out online.

But another note on the above commentary:

The part where Isaiah 61:10 says: "I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God."

The Biblical Illustrator Commentary has these encouraging words for us on the above :

"Where there is a will there is generally a way, and sad though you may be, something is gained if you will resolve to rejoice.  It is always "in the Lord"  that we must rejoice.  Friends are dying, helps are failing, hopes are being blasted.  Rejoice in the Lord!"

  [Hong Kong Orchid Tree Blossoms]

"And ye became followers of us, and of the LORD, having received the Word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost."                -     1 Thessalonians 1:6

On another commentary, the above verse is expounded a bit....  "They received the Word with joy  - they realized the joy of conscious forgiveness and acceptance with God. The sinless angels, placed beyond the necessity of pardon, are incapable of experiencing this joy.  It belongs exclusively to the believing penitent."

[Hawaiian Moorhen, Oahu]

"The LORD takes pleasure in those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy and loving-kindness."   -  Psalm 145:20

"Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God."   -  1 Peter 1:21

Following is an excellent 11 minute video concerning Jesus' imminent return for the Rapture of true believers .   It is titled "Be Ready For What Is Coming."

  Watch and Pray!

Concerning the fact that the Bible tells us that God's Holy Spirit dwells within us, the following 3 minute devotional is a must for you to listen to.  It is by Charles Stanley's InTouch ministries:

On another source, someone has said:  "Real faith grabs God's attention and will move Him to work in your behalf."

If you are not saved, not born again by believing in Jesus Christ as the Savior.... not believing that His shed blood at the Cross can wash you clean (since He died in our place and paid our sin debt in full)  then please repent before it is too late!  Pray for forgiveness, and believe with all your heart and soul - all of your very being - that Jesus is the Savior and the only way to heaven !

Following are some verses for those who are not yet believers:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -  John 3:36

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.:   -         John 14:6

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.  Believest thou this?"     -   John 11:25-26

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."       -  John 3:16

Better To Be Purged Than Plucked ! (With Sermon Video) - Inspirational Weekend

[Hawaiian Black-Crowned Night Heron]

First, let's consider what is meant by purged.  Most Christians already know this, but some who read this blog are not Christians, so here is an explanation.  Often referenced here on this site is Webster's 1828 dictionary found online. It is an excellent reference when it is used for meanings of Bible words.

Purge, according to Webster's, means to clear from guilt or moral defilement; as to purge away sin.  Webster's gave Psalm 79:9 as a reference which reads in the King James Version :  "Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Thy name: and deliver us and purge away our sins, for Thy name's sake."

Another wonderful verse is from John 15:2  . Let's consider both verse 1 and 2:
Jesus speaking:
(1) I am the vine, and My Father is the husbandman;
(2) Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit He purgeth it that it may bring forth more fruit."

Following are from John Trapp's Commentary on the above verses:

"Every branch in Me " = That thinks himself to be in Me, and is so thought to be by others, but proves not to be so.  These are said to 'deny the Lord that bought them, to trample on the blood of the covenant wherewith they were sanctified, to wallow in the mire from which they had been washed.'  (2 Peter 2:1,22  ;   Hebrews 10:20)  So here, to be branches in Christ and yet unfruitful. Not that they ever were in Christ, but seemed to be so, as a pole fixed in the earth, but not rooted........ " He purgeth it"-   Of all possessions, saith Cato, none requires more pains about it than that of the vineyards.  Grain comes up and grows without the husbandman's care (Mark 4:27), he knows not how.   But vines must be dressed, supported, sheltered, pruned every day almost; lopped they must ever and anon, lest the juice be spent in leaves.  And if it be painful to bleed, it is worse to wither.  Better to be pruned to grow than cut up to burn."

Where vines are concened, pruning can be likened to "purging" sins of  people.

Consider the main subject verses of this post: John 10:27-30 which follow:

(27)  My sheep  hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.    (28) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.  (29) My Father, which gave them Me is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand.  (30) I and My Father are one."

What comforting and hopeful words if you are a true believer in the Savior Jesus Christ !

The above verses spoken by Jesus are explained wonderfully in the following 60 minute audio sermon by Charles Spurgeon.  It is the best explanation of these verses in John 10 that I have ever heard.  Spurgeon lived from1834 to 1892, and is known as "the prince of preachers."  It is estimated that he preached to over 10 million persons in his lifetime.   Please listen to his entire sermon below.   It, too, is comforting and will enrich your life when you consider the way he explains this message of how no one can pluck you out Jesus' or the Father's hands  (although Spurgeon, instead of the KJV "pluck" says "snatch"... which of course means the same thing.)  Of course, the main source to enrich our lives is to read God's Holy Word, the Bible, daily and to be daily in prayer as well!  The good Lord desires to fellowship with us, His children!

In his sermon above, Charles Spurgeon tells us "Know Him and obey Him.  If you do not, you are not His sheep."

Jesus will return soon to take His Bride (true believers, His Church) to be with Him in heaven.

Jesus loves you!

If you are not saved (have not been born again - a spiritual birth from above):

He is waiting to hear from you!

He will welcome you with open arms to embrace you with love and forgiveness!

Following are Scriptures that will help you if you take them to heart and believe with all of your heart and soul -- all of your very being -- that Jesus' shed blood at the Cross can wash you clean- cleanse you from your sins and welcome you into the family of God when you have faith in Him and believe that He is the Savior.  You must first repent of known sins, and pray sincerely for forgiveness!

John 3:36 tells us:  "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)  -  2 Corinthians 6:2

"Jesus saith unto him,  I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me."   -  John 14:6

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

"Time Is Running Out - Signs to KNOW You Will Go To Heaven; Seek God While He May Be Found" (with videos) - Inspirational Weekend

                                                        [Hamakua Marsh, Kailua, Oahu]

Do you truly know God?  Not only an intellectual knowledge of Him and Jesus, but a soul stirring and heartfelt belief and faith in Him; to love Him with all of your heart, and soul, strength and mind.  If so, then you will endeavor to obey Him always, and to put His will first in your life.

"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  There is none other commandment greater than these."   -   Mark 12:29-31

Following is a 10 minute video which is excellent in its insight on the subject of seeking God.  Many Scriptures are covered, especially Isaiah 55:6-9 which tells us:

(verse 6)  : "Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: (verses 7-9 : (7)  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.  (8) For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. (9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

"The Bible is your lifeline.  The assurance of heaven ought to make a difference in our life."  = A quote from the following 15 minute video titled  " 3 Signs You Are Going To Heaven (This May Surprise You.)"

I will let the above excellent 15 minute video speak for itself.  However, one of the signs given in it that you will go to heaven, is if you have a peaceful heart.  Boy, do we all need a peaceful heart in these troublesome prophesied end times !  It is possible. However, it does not mean that at times we are not stressed or heartbroken, or do not have  any afflictions that life and the devil throws at us.  It does mean that we will NOT "stay down" if we rely on the good Lord and put our faith and hope in Him, and depend upon Him for strength to endure.

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."      -   Jesus at John 14:27

The hope of heaven which true believers have will enable us to carry on about the Lord's business.  Actually, it is God's Holy Spirit within us Who helps and encourages us to "Keep on keeping on."

"And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."                         -  Jesus at John 14:16-17

Note:  In  verse 16 above when Jesus says "Comforter"  it is another expression for the Holy Spirit.  Most of you know that, but for some who are not saved and reading this, it is a new concept to them.

[Barber's Point Lighthouse, Oahu]

Much has been written on this blog concerning the fact that we are living in the last days of this Age of Grace, this dispensation.  These are urgent times, folks !  Today, with all the uproar around  us  and in the world, for that matter, on so many dire and unprecedented issues confronting us:   " Something has to give !!"

And soon it will.  Jesus will return soon to take His true followers to heaven in the Rapture.   Then, or probably soon thereafter, the 7 year Tribulation will begin under the rule of the antichrist.   You do not want to be here to suffer the magnitude of the destruction, horror, and agony of the Tribulation!   ( Go to the "Search Box" in the upper right hand side of this page and enter things such as "7 year Tribulation,  The Rapture, End times, " etc. for more information).

So how do you avoid the Tribulation period?  If you sincerely turn to Jesus now in faith and belief that He is the Savior -  that His shed blood at the cross redeemed us and that He was the Sacrificial Lamb whose blood washes away our sins (wipes the slate clean) because He took our place at Calvary - He took our sins upon Himself and paid our sin debt in full;  If you believe all this and that He was resurrected from the dead -  You will be saved and will spend eternity in heaven with Him, our Savior and Redeemer.  You will be taken to heaven before the 7 year Tribulation begins !

Following are some Salvation Scriptures for those who are not saved at the present time.  Take them to heart !  Pray to the good Lord for forgiveness, and truly repent of your sins.  God will answer that prayer if you are sincere.... if you have a change of heart and want with all of your being to serve the Lord and obey Him.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -   John 3:36

"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation)." -    2 Corinthians 6:2

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."    -  John 14:6

"Are You Afraid Of God?" (Sermon Videos On The Proper Fear Of God) - "Inspirational Weekend"

                                                [Twilight Surf -  Kauai, Hawaii]

Those who are unrepentant sinners definitely should be afraid of God and His final judgment on them if they do not repent before they die.  Also, the Bible tells us that many unbelievers left behind after the Rapture of the Church (Christ's Bride; true believers) will have an opportunity to come to faith in Jesus, the Savior, during the 7 Year Tribulation period which follows the Rapture.  But they will do so as a sure guarantee that they will suffer death (by beheading; Revelation 20:4) by the antichrist system and government during the Tribulation.

One verse needed to be shared here is James 2:19:  "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

Sadly, many unrighteous people today believe there is a God, but they do not even "tremble" like the demons do, because they are so far gone in their wickedness.

Following is an excellent 5 minute sermon clip by deceased Pastor David Wilkerson titled "Fear the Lord"

Some Scriptures in the above sermon are:

"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."  -    Proverbs 3:7

"By mercy and truth iniquity is purged:  and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil."  -  Proverbs 16:6

Fear of the Lord means - for true believers - to have a deep reverence for Him, an awe of Him and of His power and Majesty, a proper respect for Him; which in turn will lead a person to have a great love for Him.  "In the Old Testament, they considered a proper fear of God was a token of true piety."

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."  -   Proverbs 9:10

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."  -  2 Corinthians 7:1

Psalm 128 is only 6 verses, and it is all about fearing the LORD. Following are verses 1 to 2:

"Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in His ways.  For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee."

Below is a 30 minute sermon by Pastor Charles Lawson titled:   "Afraid of God".  In it, Pastor Lawson tells us that: "If you fear God, it is a good sign that you know Him."  Excellent Sermon!  Please watch !

Here is another daily devotional by Intouch Ministries (Dr. Charles Stanley).  It is a short 2 minute clip,  but full of precious thoughts concerning the proper fear of God.  It admonishes us to not treat God too lightly - like a "Buddy" of sorts.  God/Jesus is your friend, that is true, but we must approach Him with the realization that He is Holy and therefore our fellowship with Him should be filled with honor and respect.

Much has been mentioned on this blog about fellow-shipping with the good Lord.  He wants to hear from you!  We should spend much time with Him in heartfelt prayer, as well as daily reading of His Holy Word, the Bible.  By doing so, you will grow in your love for Him and you will desire to draw ever closer to Him.  You cannot fellowship with anyone and get to know them if you never communicate with them.   Obviously, the same is true of Almighty God, the Sovereign of the Universe!  It is a privilege to be able to commune with Him in prayer!   By spending time with the good Lord in Bible Reading/Study and being often in prayer, we will develop a close, personal, loving, intimate, living relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ.  That is the main goal everyone should desire.

With the world in such a turmoil in these last moments of the last days,  and the fact that Jesus could return for His followers at any moment to rapture them to heaven, we should be busy in spiritual endeavors  --  doing God's will and sharing the Gospel of Jesus, the Savior ! Don't cling to a dying world!

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passeth away, and the lusts thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."  -    1 John 2:15-17

If you are not saved, have not been "born again" ( a spiritual rebirth), then please prayerfully consider the following salvation Scripures.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -   John 3:36

Jesus is waiting to hear from you!

He loves you!

He will welcome you with open arms to embrace you in His love and forgiveness!

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."    John 3:16

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."   -  John 14:6

"Give God Your Best! Let Your Life Count!" (Chuck Smith Sermon on Romans 5 & 6) - Inspirational Weekend

My photograph above of the slippers on the sand rather reminds me in a roundabout way of that poem several years ago "Footprints in the Sand".  Also, we as true believers in Jesus as the Savior should endeavor to always walk as He walked.  He was perfect, we are not! Until we are in glory with Him, we will remain imperfect in this world.  Yet spiritually, those who are born again are "clean and pure" in God's sight because He sees us through the redeeming work of Jesus; our spiritual rebirth.

Pastor Chuck Smith (the founder of Calvary Chapel Churches) says that a man is one of two categories: either a servant of sin or a servant of God.

Here is a wonderful sermon by Pastor Smith on Romans chapters 5 and 6.  It is about an hour and 19 minutes in length, but you will find it so engrossing that the length of it is of no regard to you.

"Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." -  Romans 6:11

"For sin shall not have dominion over over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."  -     Romans 6:14

Based on Adam Clarke's Commentary on Romans 6:14, it basically means that God and your salvation (in which you were indwelt with the Holy Spirit by your belief in Jesus as the Savior)  ....God and the Holy Spirit guard you from habitually sinning; although we do at times miss the mark, as Pastor Chuck discusses in the above sermon.  "True believers are under the merciful dispensation of the Gospel; in the death of Christ, God has provided pardon for all that is past, and grace to help in every time of need."

I pray that you will take the time to watch the entire sermon above by Pastor Chuck Smith.  He mentions in his sermon the following hymn, "Take My Life And Let it Be", here sung by Chris Tomlin:

If you have not been saved by belief in Jesus as the Savior and by belief that His shed blood at Calvary can wash your sins away because of his sacrificial death as the Lamb of God, and because He paid our sin debt in full -  took our place - and died so that we may have eternal life;  then please prayerfully consider the following Scriptures:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -    John 3:36

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."  -    John 14:6

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -    John 3:16

"Are You In 'The Perfect Storm' Right Now? There Is Help For You!" (with Videos: One by Dr. David Jeremiah, and Another Video with Pastor Chuck Smith As a Narrator) - Inspirational Weekend

[Island Off Lanikai Beach, Oahu, Hawaii]

It had rained earlier the day I took the above photograph.  It is the one photo I have taken that comes close to depicting a "storm", which is the subject of this post.  We are referring to the storms of life that come upon us from time to time.  All of us are now suffering the effects of Covid-19 in one way or another; and the same goes for the current world events otherwise; the chaotic and lawless effects of a world gone mad!

The following excellent 29 minute sermon by Dr. David Jeremiah deals with the subject "A Shelter in the Storms of Life".  Dr. Jeremiah tells us what we can do when storms invade our lives.

"Peace is not the absence of stress, peace is the presence of the Savior."   -  Dr. David Jeremiah

"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him."  -  Nahum 1:7

Many of us tend to not read Nahum often.  But the above verse is so beautiful and comforting. God will deliver those who are His in their day of trouble and danger; and by "a stronghold" it refers to how God is a defense and is our strength and "fortress" by His love and protection of us, His children.

Nahum 1:7 is mentioned in the following 13 minute video below titled : "The Guardian of the World - God is Watching and He is in Control."  Towards the end of the following video, Pastor Chuck Smith (the founder of the Calvary Chapel Churches) is also one of the narrators of this encouraging message.

The message above reminds us that we are never alone!  And, also, to not focus on the problem, but instead to focus on God and Jesus, and He will help you and fight your battles !

"The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."    -   Exodus 14:14

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD."  -  Isaiah 54:17

[Boats and Rainbow Bridge, Haleiwa, North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii]

One Scripture quoted before on this blog, which rather ties in with the subject matter today, is Psalm 27:14, which follows:

"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the Lord."

Psalm 28:7 tells us: "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped."

"I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." -   Psalm 34:4

On the above verse at Psalm 34:4, Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary explains, in part : "David found Him [Yahweh] a prayer-hearing God. "I sought the Lord' in my distress, entreated His favor, and begged His help 'and He heard me' , answered my request immediately and 'delivered me from all my fears.'....God by His providence....and grace...works in us to silence our fears and still the tumult of the spirit.  This latter is the greater mercy of the two.  ......  When we look to the world we are darkened, we are perplexed, and at a loss; but when we look to God, from Him we have the light of both of direction and joy, and our way is made both plain and pleasant."

[Rainbow Shower Tree Blossoms]

Remember always, if you are a true follower of Jesus, and have been born again (a spiritual rebirth from above) then Jesus makes you a conqueror and makes you victorious!

Romans 8:37 tells us: "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."                     -   1 Corinthians 15:57

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world,  even our faith."  -     1 John 5:4

Most of you are familiar with the fact that "storms of life" will make you turn more to prayer and reliance on the good Lord.  It will increase your faith, and make you stronger when you see God working in your behalf and helping you in whatever circumstances are troubling you.   And, as you know, sometimes God Himself will send storms to test your faith, and to help mold you into a faith filled servant of His, by teaching you to rely on Him, and Him only.

Hebrews 12:6 explains, "Whom the Lord loves He chastens."

"Afflictions are but the shadows of God's Wings."  - George Macdonald

If you have not yet put your faith in Jesus as the Savior, and  believe that it is only by Jesus' shed blood at Calvary we can find salvation..... that Jesus' redemptive work on the cross made a way for us to have eternal life because He was our substitute and took our sins upon Himself to pay our sin debt in full !  Now is the time to call upon Him and repent and surrender your life to Him.  Pray for forgiveness!   Following are Scriptures to help you :

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -   John 3:36

What You Need Every Moment - (Andrew Murray Sermon; Hymn Video)

"For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day."  -   2 Timothy 1:12

Most Christ followers are familiar with the above Scripture.  It is a strong testimony to the faith of the apostle Paul.

Following is a beautiful hymn based on the above verse:

You may be familiar with the writings of Andrew Murray, who was a South African preacher and author and lived from 1828 to 1917.  Following is a 36 minute audio sermon by Murray which discusses  2 Timothy 1:12 as well as many other spiritual gems that you will benefit from:

In the above sermon, Andrew Murray explains the importance of the Holy Spirit - how it is  essential to living effectively as a believer.  He tells us that "we need Christ every moment of everyday!"    Murray also discusses the apostle Paul and how Paul gave himself wholly to Jesus.   As Murray says, "We need Jesus to help us to keep on going, ....... and asks the question if we have given up everything we have into the keeping of Jesus ."

Just a reminder,  God and Jesus... when they tell us something to do or not to do,  it is NOT advisory, as if we can pick and choose which to obey and which not to obey.  We should obey always !  Dr. Charles Stanley often says "Obey God, and leave all the consequences to Him."

No one can "have the Holy Spirit within them" unless they are truly born again (a spiritual rebirth from the Lord).  In other words, by believing with all of your very being that Jesus is the Savior, whose redemptive work on the cross .... His shed blood... His sacrifice to pay our sin debt in full.. all that can save us and wash our sins away... wipe the slate clean and save us for eternal life.  Just believe in Jesus as the Savior.   This is not intellectual knowledge; it is a true faith with all your heart and soul and your very being that Jesus is indeed the one known as the Christ, the Redeemer, the Son of God and, again, the Savior... the only way to heaven.

Concerning the Holy Spirit, following are some words of Jesus:

"And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever."  -  John 14:16

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost  [ Holy Spirit]  Whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."    -  John 14:26

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you."  - John 16:7

As stated in previous posts here,  over and over again this blog has stressed the importance of being in God's Holy Word the Bible on a daily basis, as well as to pray without ceasing, (1 Thessalonians 5:17).  That is the only way a person will be able to develop a close, intimate, personal, and loving relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  You cannot get to know anyone if you never communicate with them!  The same is true when it comes to the good Lord, of course.  God loves us and desires to fellowship with us.

If you have never repented of your sins and asked God for forgiveness and turned to Jesus with a longing to know Him, the Savior -  then please do so now!  It is childlike simple:  simply believe in Christ and that He alone is the Savior and the way to the Father and to heaven.   You need to realize that you are indeed a sinner and in need of a Savior !

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."  -     Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  -  Romans 6:23

Following are some Scriptures for the unbeliever:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -   John 3:36

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 explains the Gospel:  "Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.  And that  He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

"Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."   -  John 14:6

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."   -  John 3:16

Jesus will return soon to take true believers to heaven.  Will you be ready ?

Encouragement To Endure In A Chaotic World (Sermon by Pastor Chuck Smith)

Here it is Tuesday already and I am wondering what news will unfold this week -  especially if it is in fulfillment of Bible Prophecy.  I had originally intended to post a video here concerning the soon cryptocurrency that will be used instead of cash.  But I happened to accidentally run across a video which sparked my enthusiasm and which is more up-building and encouraging than more information on the "Bad" happening now or that will happen in the near future because of the New World Order and the people pushing for it.  But if you are interested, go to the Web and enter "Microsoft patent 060606 on cryptocurrency "  (Note the 666).  It seems "this cryptocurrency will measure body activity of the user in the form of body radiation, body fluid flow, a brain wave pulse rate, etc,; and then will award cryptocurrency in exchange for the appropriate body activity"  (quoting part of www.reddit.com).  I kid you not!!  Absolutely unbelievable!

To begin with words of encouragement, following is a video narrated by Pastor Chuck Smith, the founder of the Calvary Chapel churches.  The message in this 14 minute sermon clip is based on Nahum 1:7.  The sermon stresses putting God first in our lives, and then everything else will fall into its proper place.

The writing above on the video is partly obscured and is worth taking to heart!  It says:

"When you pray - God listens.
When you listen - God talks
When you believe - God works."

Nahum 1:7 encourages us:  "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him."

We are certainly living in troublesome times right now, no doubt about it!  Following are some Christian quotes and Bible verses that deal with faith.  Faith can see you through all trials and is closely related to trust in God and Jesus.

This quote by Martin Lloyd-Jones is quite to the point and applies always:  "Faith is a refusal to panic."

"Faith is a living and unshakable confidence, a belief in the grace of God so assured that a man would die a thousand deaths for its sake."    - Martin Luther

"Only in a world where faith is difficult can faith exist."  -  Peter Kreeft

Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary on Nahum 1:7 has this to say: "He is a God of infinite mercy; and in the midst of all this wrath mercy is remembered."

"Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the ONE Who is leading."  -  Oswald Chambers

The following Scripture (1 Samuel 12:24) is very meaningful to me, or I should say personal in a very real sense.  I was so lost and sinful when I was younger, and the good Lord rescued me from all that darkness and brought me into His saving light and led me to a living faith in the Savior, Jesus.  I am filled with gratitude for how He has renewed my mind and transformed my heart.  No believer in Jesus is perfect, of course, and we will not be so until we are with the Lord in glory.  The main thing is that once we are truly born again (a spiritual rebirth) we do not deliberately and willfully sin -  which is outright rebellion against God. We make mistakes, we sin accidentally and in ways like anger or resentment, but we take it to the Lord and pray for forgiveness and He will help us to overcome it.

"Only fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart.  For consider what great things He has done for you."     -    1 Samuel 12:24

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."  -   Galatians 2:20

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."  -   Hebrews 11:6

The above verse is so very important !  You must have faith in order to please God !!  Most Christians realize this, but some new to the Gospel may not understand the importance of faith and total surrender to the good Lord.

This world has gone mad, so to speak!  We need to have faith in order to endure what lies ahead as well as to endure what is happening at the present time.

This is where faith and strong trust and confidence in the Lord  comes in!

We believers have a blessed hope!  Jesus will soon take us to be with Him when the Rapture of the Church occurs.  Keep looking up!

Titus 2:13 tells us :"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."

Concerning the signs of the end times we are now experiencing, Jesus said at Luke 21:28 :  "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up , and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

"The Power That Banishes Fear" (With Video by Dr. David Jeremiah) - Inspirational Weekend

The title of this article above - "The power that banishes fear" - is from what Dr. David Jeremiah tells us in the following 13 minute sermon clip:

Dr. Jeremiah tells us that we can "either pray or worry", and that "our minds should be totally on God."  Watch the video for the solution that banishes fear.

Many people the world over are now experiencing fear because of the pandemic.  This post will focus on ways to help us to cope instead of focusing on the virus itself.

"With the power of God within us, we need never fear the powers around us."  -  Woodrow Kroll

"You and I cannot change or control the world around us, but we can change and control the world within us." - Warren Wiersbe

"Fear cannot get a stronghold in the heart of someone who's full of  the vision and the Majesty of God."  -  David Wilkerson

"Life makes many an attempt to take away our faith.  Things happen to us and and to others which baffle our understanding: Life has its problems to which there seems no solution and its questions to which there seems no answer; life has it's dark places where there seems to be nothing to do but hold on.  Faith is always a victory, the victory of the soul which tenaciously maintains its clutch on God." - William Barclay

Christians have a hope that strengthens them and helps them to endure:

"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."  -  Titus 2:13

Concentrate on what is the true center of Christian Life.

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on the things on the earth."  -   Colossians 3:1-2

A wonderful verse to apply here is found at Nehemiah 8:10 b ".... For the joy of the Lord is your strength."

It is true that Christians can feel fear and worry and anxiety, but we should not let it take control of us.  Those feelings should be temporary as we should place our hope and trust in the good Lord.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."       -  2 Timothy 1:7

Psalm 62:5-8 assures us, (5) "My soul, wait thou only upon God; For my expectation is from Him.   (6) He only is my rock and my defense: I shall not be moved.  (7) In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.  (8) Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us."

"Wherefore hast Thou afflicted Thy servant?" -   Numbers 11:11

The above verse was used in a devotion by Charles Spurgeon, and following is a partial quote from a portion that devotional.

"Our heavenly Father sends us frequent troubles to try our faith.  If our faith be worth anything, it will stand the test......   A faith which can say "though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him",    (Job 13:15)    is heaven-born faith.

"Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope"    (Romans 5:3).  The Lord is honored by these growing virtues" says Spurgeon. "The wisdom and power of the Great Workman are discovered by the trials through which His vessels of mercy are permitted to pass.  Present afflictions tend also to heighten future joy.  ...... Will not the recollection of past sufferings enhance the bliss of the glorified?"

When we are in heaven, there will be peace and harmony and much love.  We need to endure to the end.  The best way to endure is to have a close, intimate, loving, personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, His Son.  How do we do this?  Many of you know it is by prayer without ceasing and much time spent in the Bible, the Holy Word of God.  By doing those two things, you will learn more about God and Jesus, and your love for them will grow and blossom and develop into something beautiful and eternal.

Remember that song, "This world is not my home?"  We need to remind ourselves of that when we get caught up in day to day living and cares and worries.  And now, we have much chaos and evil in this old world, and all that is on everyone's mind now is the recent pandemic.   Just remember, this world is passing away but he who does the will of God will remain forever  (1 John 2:17).

Here is a version of the song mentioned above, sung by Jim Reeves.

Bible prophecy is being fulfilled right now at warp speed.  Not only on a daily basis, but even minute by minute some new conflict or development proves that we are living in the end times and that Jesus will soon return to Rapture true believers to heaven before the 7 year Tribulation begins.  Friends, many things happening today were prophesied concerning the Tribulation period.... they are right now precursors to the Trib.  .... we are not in the Tribulation now, but we are ever so close to it according to the Bible.  It is like God is shaking and stirring up things in an endeavor to wake up as many people as He can and thereby have them turn in faith to Jesus as the Savior before it is too late.   If you are not saved by faith in Jesus as the Savior, Who is the only way to the Father and to heaven, following are some Scriptures to encourage you to surrender to the redeeming power of Jesus :

Romans 10:9,10,13 tells us (9) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believeth in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (13)  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  -  John 3:36

"Jesus saith unto him,  I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father but by Me."

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.  Believest thou this?"   -  John 11:25, 26

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."     -   John 3:16

"In The Shadow of God's Wings" (With Video Sermon By Adrian Rogers) - Inspirational Weekend

[South African Starling]

We are all aware of the many catastrophic occurrences in these the last days the Bible prophesied about; we will not go into any depth about that in this weekend post.  Instead, let us be encouraged by Scriptures from the Bible, and by quotes from various Christian authors and pastors, and the like.  (Much has been written on this blog about Bible prophecy and end times signs; you may go to the search box at the upper right hand side of this page and type in things like: "last days", "Mark of the Beast" , "7 year Tribulation, " "The Rapture" , and other such topics and it will bring up several posts  - some with videos - which you may view.)

Today, Psalm 57 seemed to cry out to me to comment on it.   It was written by ancient King David while hiding in a cave when King Saul pursued him in an attempt to kill him.  Following are 4 verses from Psalm 57, but we will go into more depth concerning verse 1.

" (1)  Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me.  For my soul trusteth in Thee:  Yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.  (2) I will cry unto God most high; Unto God that performeth all things for me. (3) He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up.  Selah. God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.  (4) My soul is among lions."

Many of you can relate to the above words of Psalm 57.  Today's world is full of chaos, and it affects all of us in some way.

In verse 1 above, let us concentrate on when David said: "In the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be over past."

This is obviously a metaphor taken from the brood of a hen (or other bird) whose young ones take shelter under the mother bird's wings when they see danger, such as from a bird of prey; and there they continue to hide themselves until the enemy disappears.  Also, in a storm or intense rain, the mother covers them with her wings to give them shelter.  David the psalmist has this particularly in view, as when he wrote:  "Until these calamities be over past."

One commentator has said, "David believed that these calamities would pass away, or would cease; that a time would come when he would not thus be driven from place to place.  At present he knew he was in danger and he desired the divine protection, for under that protection he would be safe."

[Mandarin Duck]

"Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: Hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be over past." -    Isaiah 26:20

"I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living."  -   Psalm 27:13

The above verses do not necessarily mean to be so fearful in your heart that you do not go about daily routines -  we cannot just stay in bed all day and pull the covers over our heads, so to speak.  The main thing is to trust in the good Lord and wait for his guidance and direction.

Romans 15:13 tells us: " Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit."

"Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always by all means.  The Lord be with you all."  -   2 Thessalonians 3:16

[Nene goose -  Hawaii's State Bird]

"Daily take some time to set your eyes on God's overwhelming presence of love instead of the circumstances of life.  Meditate on the truth that God's presence not only follows you, but is with you and offers rest to your overwhelmed soul."  -  Proverbs 31 ministries

"Being at peace with yourself is a direct result of finding peace with God."  -  Olin Miller

"Socrates used to say ' Philosophers can be happy without music'; and Christians can be happier than philosophers, when all outward causes of rejoicing are withdrawn.  In Thee, my God, my heart shall triumph come what may of ills without!  By Thy power, O blessed Spirit, my heart shall be exceeding glad, though all things should fail me here below."   -  Charles Spurgeon

"With the power of God within us, we need never fear the powers around us."  -  Woodrow Kroll

Jesus is the answer to all of our fears !   When you have Him by your side and the Holy Spirit living within you, He will help you and guide you and give you peace.  Really, even if someone kills us, our spirit lives on and we will join the good Lord in heaven at death.

The apostle Paul put it beautifully when he said, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."  -  Philippians 1:21

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me."    John 14:6

"If ye love Me, keep my commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; Whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."    Jesus at John 14:15

It all boils down to having faith in Jesus and believing that He is the Savior; that His shed blood at Calvary washes away all of your sins when you believe with all your very being that His death, His redemptive work at the cross, paid your sin debt in full.  He was our substitute and died in our place, taking  the sins of the world upon Him at the cross.  He is the only way to heaven; and only He can save a sinner from the darkness and death; and bring him into His saving Light and life.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."   -   Jesus at John 3:16

When you have Jesus with you, you can face anything!

Following is an excellent 39 minute sermon by Adrian Rogers on ways to draw closer to Jesus.

Time is running out!

Jesus will return soon to Rapture true followers of Christ to heaven to be with Him.

Are you Rapture ready?

Romans 10: 9,10, 13 tells us:  (9) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
